What is a (PCAB) Special License❓🏗️

A PCAB License is a mandatory requirement for contractors and builders who wish to operate legally in the Philippines.

The Special License is made for special projects that don't fit the rules of the regular one; and its only renewable until the project specified in the license officially ends.

There are 3 Types of Special Licenses, namely: • Joint Venture • Consortium • Foreign

1. Joint Venture

This particular license type is used when 2 or more contractors want to pool resources in order to partake a particular project together. A common example of this is the current ongoing railway projects here in the Philippines, most of which are under Joint Ventures.

2. Consortium

This is used when there are non-constructor partners (Funders of suppliers of materials) that will be included in the contract with the client. This is commonly used if the materials needed for the project requires a foreign supplier.

3. Foreign

This is for 100% Foreign Contractors are permitted to apply for a project if the project specification/scope of work requires foreign expertise that is not available within the contractors here in the Philippines.

In summary, while a regular PCAB License suits ongoing construction work, Special Licenses enable specific, often collaborative or foreign-involved projects to move forward legally and efficiently ✔️
