When should I RENEW my PCAB License?

For PCAB (Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board) license holders, timely renewal of your license is not just a matter of compliance—it's essential to maintaining your legal eligibility to operate as a contractor in the Philippines. Failing to renew on time can lead to avoidable penalties, unnecessary delays in your operations, and even the temporary suspension of your contracting activities. To avoid such complications, it is crucial to know when and how early you can begin the renewal process.

So, when is the earliest you can renew your PCAB license?

According to PCAB guidelines, license holders may begin filing for renewal as early as three (3) months before the license expiration date. This early window is provided to give contractors ample time to gather the necessary documentation, ensure compliance with any updated requirements, and complete the application without rushing. This proactive approach gives PCAB enough time to review and approve renewals before licenses lapse.

Take note of these dates on your license: The red-highlighted date printed at the bottom of your PCAB license certificate. This date, usually set one (1) month before your license expires, is PCAB’s recommended renewal date. It serves as an internal reminder to help you avoid last-minute renewals and ensure that your license remains active without interruption. If you fail to renew your license on or before this recommended date, you will incur a late renewal penalty of ₱5,000. If your license remains unrenewed until after the actual expiration date (Validity Period of this License/Renewal), you will be charged an additional ₱5,000, bringing the total penalty to ₱10,000. These penalties are strictly enforced and can become a costly oversight if not managed properly.

To stay compliant and avoid penalties, contractors are strongly encouraged to mark their calendars and initiate the renewal process well ahead of time—ideally, as soon as the three-month window opens. This ensures business continuity, avoids legal complications, and keeps your standing with PCAB in good order.
